International Women’s Day; A Day to Recognize the Women of LW4SP
March 8 is designated as International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the achievements of women across the globe. It is undeniable; women have made tremendous societal contributions as leaders, inventors, authors, in the arts, business, social change, and other areas.
Like many men, at times, women’s extraordinary or even life threatening contributions went largely unnoticed by history. How many currently know that famous actress Heddy Lamarr invented the communications system that not only helped win World War II, but also formed the technical backbone that makes cellular phones, fax machines and other wireless operations possible?
Who remembers Diane Nash risked her life to lead the Freedom Riders in the desegregation of busing in the American south?
How many are aware, as Gandhi had been arrested, it was Sarojini Naidu who led the march to Dharasana salt works, which was largely seen as the turning point in the movement for Indian independence?
Throughout history, these and many other women have worked side by side with men, to enact monumental change. Today is no different.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, please support the work of Leading Women for Shared Parenting, an international child advocacy organization working to benefit millions of children across the globe.
Donations can be made on the LW4SP homepage or by PayPal or Credit Cards here.
Thank you for your support and Happy International Women’s Day!
