Shazia Mirza

Shazia is an assistant professor at National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan; where she heads the Department of Ceramics Design.

She is a Fulbright scholar, having earned her Masters in Fine Arts from the State University of New York at New Paltz.

Shazia is also the Program Manager at MY Foundation, a newly registered NGO.  Pakistani guardian courts allow non custodial parent less than 0.5% of visitation time with their children, resulting in a huge number of parents not being able to see their children for months or years.  MY Foundation is recognized as the only CSO/NGO working to claim the rights of Pakistani children as defined in the UNCRC, which was long ago ratified by the Pakistani Government.  Its mission is to get all the laws related to children be aligned with UNCRC, through legislative change.

Shazia's personal manifesto is to respect human rights more than women's rights, and to convince policy and decision makers to differentiate between marriage and parenting.

She is also a writer, having most recently written "Its Mothers Day: Why Can't I Meet My Children?"
