Angela Hoffmeyer

I was born on July 26, 1959 in Karlsruhe, Germany. After high school I studied German and English language and literature at the University of Heidelberg. I completed additional training as a secretary / assistant. Since 1990 I have been working as an academic employee in a mid-sized company which offers scientific-technical information and services on an international platform.

I have no children of my own, but had a very good relationship with my five stepchildren during our time together. I made it my mission to build bridges between children and their separated parents.

In August 2005, motivated by my own experience with separation and divorce and the situation of my stepchildren, I joined the German non-profit association Väteraufbruch für Kinder e. V. (http://www.vaeteraufbruch.de) which was founded in 1988 and presently has about 3.000 members.  Since March 2007, I am a member of the regional Board of Väteraufbruch für Kinder Karlsruhe e. V. Since April 2009 I am a member of the Federal Board. Presently, in my third term, I am responsible for the department Information and Communication.

In the first years of my community service one of my favorite topics was Parental Alienation (PAS). In January 2012 I initiated a European project on Shared Parenting (Projektgruppe Paritätische Doppelresidenz). With about 50 members and the support of our project partners from Austria, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland the project has rapidly developed into an international network. Presently we are installing an international information and cooperation platform twohomes.org designed for scientists, professionals, members of parent and family associations and any users interested in the topic. On 10/11 August 2013 we organized the “Kick-off Workshop on the International Platform on Shared Parenting” in Bonn, Germany. For further information see http://twohomes.org/en_events_2013_kickoff.

As a follow-up event, the “1st International Conference on Shared Parenting” is scheduled for 9/10/11 July 2014 in Bonn, Germany. Furthermore, an international organization on Shared Parenting is in the course of formation.
